Armenian PM: More alleged spies under investigation

22 May 2026 09:14

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said authorities are investigating additional alleged espionage cases following proceedings against opposition figure Andranik Tevanyan.

Pashinyan told reporters during a briefing that law enforcement agencies were continuing operational work linked to suspected espionage networks, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.

“There are other spies as well, but we won’t be ‘taking them down’ just yet,” Pashinyan said.

The Armenian leader stated that when alleged espionage activities are uncovered, security agencies often continue monitoring suspects in order to identify broader networks and connections.

“We need to track them down to expose all their agent networks and connections,” he said.

Pashinyan added that information obtained from communications between alleged agents and their handlers helps authorities understand intelligence operations being carried out against Armenia.

“The arrest takes place at the moment when the operational interest has been exhausted,” he said.
