Armenian PM stresses democracy as core government strategy
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to democratic governance, describing democracy not as a choice but as a strategic direction for Armenia’s development.
His remarks came during a meeting in Paris with the European Union Special Representative for Human Rights Kajsa Ollongren, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
During the talks, the sides discussed the ongoing reform process launched by the Armenian government to protect human rights, strengthen democratic institutions, and uphold the rule of law. They also reviewed the agenda for continued cooperation between Armenia and the European Union in these key areas.
Pashinyan emphasized that advancing democratic reforms and safeguarding human rights remain among the top priorities of his administration, underscoring that democracy forms the foundation of Armenia’s long-term strategy for governance and stability.
Ollongren, in turn, commended the Armenian government’s efforts to consolidate democratic institutions and implement reforms that enhance the protection of human rights. She reaffirmed the European Union’s readiness to maintain close collaboration with Yerevan in supporting these initiatives.
