Armenian PM: TRIPP project primarily investment project
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on January 21 that the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project , despite attracting significant political attention, should be viewed primarily as an investment initiative rather than a political one.
Speaking during a session of the National Assembly while responding to questions from lawmakers, Pashinyan said that political considerations were gradually receding as the investment component of the project came to the forefront, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
He recalled that representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan had visited the Yeraskh–Sadarak section of the railway the previous week to inspect its condition, explaining that the purpose of the visit was to assess the possibility of resuming railway traffic.
Seperately, Pashinyan said that the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as of January 21, 2026, could be described as one of “perfect peace.” He noted that the Armenian government continued diplomatic efforts to strengthen and institutionalise peace in the region, while maintaining vigilance and focusing on issues identified in a report by Armenia’s Foreign Intelligence Service.
The prime minister also pointed to changes in the overall atmosphere between Yerevan and Baku, including shifts in their public rhetoric, which he said showed initial signs of progress and were to be welcomed.
