Armenian PM: US-backed TRIPP infrastructure project accelerated
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that the implementation of the “Trump’s Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) infrastructure project has not slowed down, but has instead accelerated.
Speaking during government question time in parliament, Pashinyan said the United States has reaffirmed at the highest level that the project remains a priority, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Despite our fears and concerns, we have received assurances that the project continues to be a priority for the US. Not only have the processes not slowed down, but they have accelerated,” he noted.
He added that recent discussions had focused on technical preparations, including the construction of power transmission lines, and the possibility of beginning construction work in the near future.
On August 8, 2025, in Washington, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, in the presence of the US president, signed a joint declaration consisting of seven points. One of its provisions concerns the launch of the Zangezur corridor (“Trump Route” — a 42-kilometre stretch passing through Armenian territory — ed.) as part of efforts to unblock regional communications.
In addition, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia initialled an agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations.
