Armenian police detain dozens of protesters in Yerevan
06 May 2022 17:11
The Armenian police have detained about 50 demonstrators who blocked the streets in Yerevan as part of civil disobedience actions announced by the opposition.
"Some 48 people were detained," the police told Interfax.
The demonstrators resumed rallies by blocking traffic along the main avenues, streets and bridges of Yerevan on May 6 morning.
The rally participants clashed with security officers who tried to detain former Armenian police chief Valery Osipyan on the Victory Bridge, which links the city centre with the Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport. The protesters prevented detention.
