Armenian police officers detain US contract killer

05 July 2024 13:25

An American contract killer wanted in the UK has been apprehended and placed under arrest in Armenia.

Thus, 44-year-old Aimee B. was found and detained in Armenia’s Proshyan village on July 2, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.

She is wanted in the UK on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and illegal possession of weapons, and she is currently in custody.

According to BBC reports, Aimee was sought for allegedly attempting to shoot a businessman in Birmingham, US, in September 2019.

During the assassination attempt, she wore a hijab, but the gun malfunctioned. Since then, authorities have been searching for her, and she was recently located in Armenia.

A father and son have been found guilty of conspiracy to murder.

West Midlands Police said Mohammed Aslam, 56, and Mohammed Nazir, 30, from Elms Avenue in Derby, planned to kill the owner of a Birmingham clothing shop after a dispute in 2018 which left the pair injured.

The owner had driven home to South Yardley, Birmingham, in September 2019 and was threatened with a gun as he got out of his car.

But he escaped after the weapon jammed.

After a failed bid to lure him to a later meeting, his house was shot at three times, police said.

Nazir was found guilty of conspiracy to murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

He was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice and illegally importing firearms.

Aslam was cleared of a firearms offence, but was found guilty of conspiracy to murder.

They are due to be sentenced at the same court on August 9.
