Armenian Prime Minister calls for Catholicos Karekin II to resign

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reiterated his firm stance that Catholicos Karekin II, the head of the country's Apostolic Church, must resign from his position.

This declaration comes after a month-long period of relative silence on the issue, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Speaking at a briefing, Pashinyan emphasized the immutability of his position.

“My position regarding the Armenian Apostolic Church has not changed and cannot change under any circumstances. Ktrich Nersisyan (the secular name of Karekin II) must step down,” he stated unequivocally, signaling his intent to spearhead a movement aimed at securing the Catholicos’s departure.
