Armenian prosecutor's office demands to exact over $1 million from ex-president
13 November 2023 20:45
Armenian ex-President Serzh Sargsyan’s lawyer Ruben Hakobyan has said that the prosecutor's office demands to exact half a billion drams (about $1.2 million) from Sargsyan as part of the “diesel case”.
“Prosecutors filed a civil claim for the amount of 489 million drams [$1,219] specified in the indictment. This is the so-called confiscation claim, which the lawyer categorically disagrees with,” Hakobyan told journalists after the court hearing, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
Prosecutors accuse Sargsyan of patronizing the Flash company during his presidency, thanks to which the organization won a state tender for the supply of diesel fuel while offering a higher price than its competitors.
