Armenian prosecutor seeks to seize property of another former police official
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia has filed a lawsuit to confiscate the assets of Roma Mkrtumyan, the former head of the Main Directorate of State Protection of the Police, as part of an ongoing anti-corruption probe.
The case has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court, with prosecutors seeking to seize Mkrtumyan’s house in Yerevan’s Erebuni district, the market value of a vehicle, and financial assets amounting to over 415 million drams ($1.08 million), Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Mkrtumyan led the State Protection Directorate from 2011 to 2015. According to authorities, the confiscation request is tied to a broader criminal investigation involving allegations of abuse of power and extortion of funds from private companies.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office filed a similar claim against Aram Zakaryan, who succeeded Mkrtumyan in the same post between 2016 and 2018. Both former officials are implicated in the same criminal case.
