Armenian prosecutors target former Yerevan mayor’s assets
The Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office has pressed ahead with legal action against former Yerevan mayor and former Minister of Transport and Communications, Gagik Beglaryan, demanding the seizure of multiple properties.
In the first court case, prosecutors are seeking 31 real estate assets from Beglaryan, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
A second lawsuit introduces new claims, including eight additional properties, 636 million drams (approximately $1.6 million), and a stake in a legal entity.
Beglaryan is alleged to have misused his official position between 2004 and 2010 to transfer property to individuals connected to him. During this period, he is accused of legalising assets obtained through criminal activity and registering them in his own name.
As part of the ongoing criminal investigation, Beglaryan and his deputy face charges including money laundering, incitement to money laundering, and abuse of official powers.
