Armenian security chief shields European spy mission, denounces Moscow
Speaking to journalists today, February 21, Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan commented on Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's remarks about the ineffectiveness of the EU reconnaissance-monitoring mission in Armenia.
"Representatives of the European Civilian Observation Mission do not have access to the direction of the village of Nerkin Hand, only the Russian side has access there," he said, according to Caliber.Az.
In this context, he mentioned the recent incident near the village of Nerkin Hand, pointing out that the Russian side failed to prevent the incident.
Commenting on Moscow's criticism of the EU, he said: "I am convinced that the reality is different. It is clear that the EU civilian mission plays a stabilising role. We fully facilitate its activities and will continue to do so".
It should be recalled that on February 13, in response to the provocation of the Armenian armed forces, units of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan conducted "Operation Revenge".
As a result of the operation carried out by the SBS, the combat post of the Armenian armed forces near the Nerkin Hand settlement in the Gafan district, from which Azerbaijani servicemen were fired, was completely destroyed and the combat positions of the Armenian Armed Forces were suppressed.
