Armenian security council admits absence of Karabakh clause in forthcoming peace deal

22 December 2022 17:55

The Armenian Security Council Secretary, Armen Grigoryan, has admitted for the first time that the peace agreement to be signed between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev does not contain a clause on Karabakh.

He voiced this remark at a briefing with journalists at the Armenian parliament on December 22, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

“The Armenian government itself was not interested in including this clause in the security and border demarcation proposals initially sent to Azerbaijan", Grigoryan explained.

He added, that "the Karabakh issue" would be discussed in the future if the sides agreed on the current package of proposals.
