Armenian separatist figure Zori Balayan dies at 91

Zori Balayan, key ideologue of Armenian separatist movements and one of the architects of the Khojaly massacre, dies at 91, his son Aik Balayan confirmed, according to Armenian media.

Balayan gained prominence in the early 1980s with his book Ochag, which presented a distorted version of history, claiming Karabakh for Armenians and casting Turks and Azerbaijanis as adversaries of both Russia and Armenia.

He was also linked to orchestrating violent acts, including the deadly 1994 Baku metro bombing.
