Armenian soldier wounded in borderland mine blast
An Armenian soldier was injured in a landmine explosion near the border with Azerbaijan, the country's defence ministry said on April 9.
The incident occurred in Armenia’s Gegharkunik province, in the vicinity of the village of Bashkend, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
“A serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces sustained injuries as a result of a mine explosion,” Defence Ministry spokesperson Aram Torosyan told reporters.
He added that the soldier’s life is not in danger and that he is currently under medical supervision.
To recall, Armenian soldiers have been victims of several mine explosions in recent years. On April 4, 2024, a 28-year-old soldier was hospitalized with severe leg injuries from a mine blast in Tavush Province.
On May 6, 2024, a serviceman conducting demining operations in Kirants sustained leg injuries; his condition was reported as stable. Earlier, on June 6, 2024, Sergeant Narek Gareginyan was injured by a mine explosion near Voskepar; he was transferred to a medical facility in Yerevan, and his life was not in danger.
