Armenian Speaker: CSTO leaves South Caucasus region

Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan has said that the Collective Security Treaty Organisation [CSTO] leaves the South Caucasus region.

He made the remarks during his interview with journalists on November 24, Caliber.Az reports, quoting the Armenian media.

“We never said we were preparing to leave the CSTO, but the CSTO is leaving the region and we are concerned,” he said.

"Our partners should be asked whether the CSTO has decided to leave the South Caucasus. If so, we need to announce it loudly," he added.

"Today there are troops of a third state, which is Azerbaijan, on the territory of the CSTO member country Armenia. I do not know how the member states of the organisation can tolerate it," Simonyan concluded.
