Armenian, Turkish FMs discuss key issues at Antalya Diplomacy Forum

13 April 2025 09:24

The Armenian Foreign Ministry has announced that Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum to discuss current issues on the bilateral agenda.

The meeting focused on ongoing matters of mutual interest between the two neighbouring countries, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

“The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments,” the ministry added, reflecting a broader diplomatic engagement beyond bilateral concerns.

Earlier, Mirzoyan and Fidan met in Istanbul in October 2024. The two sides discussed the continuation of dialogue aimed at fully normalising relations between the countries.

In December 2021, Yerevan and Ankara appointed special representatives for negotiations on normalisation of relations. In July 2022, an agreement was reached in Vienna to open the border for third-country nationals and to begin direct air cargo transportation. However, these issues remain unresolved up till now.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum is a significant international event designed to foster dialogue among global leaders and diplomats. The forum is held annually in the Turkish resort city of Antalya. It is organised under the patronage of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

This year’s forum gathered over 20 heads of state and government, more than 50 foreign ministers, over 70 ministers, and nearly 60 senior representatives from international organisations. In total, the event saw approximately 4,000 participants, including students. More than 50 sessions, covering a diverse array of topics, were held.

The sessions included regional issues in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America, as well as pressing global challenges such as climate change, counterterrorism, humanitarian aid, digitisation, food security, and artificial intelligence.
