Armenian Vice-Speaker hits back at journalist labelling PM Pashinyan "naked king"

Armenian Parliament Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan has commented on a Facebook post by Aza Babayan, a supporter of former President Robert Kocharyan, who referred to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as a “naked king,”  Caliber.Az reports.

“Apparently, officials from the ‘Civil Contract’ party and their supporters didn’t read fairy tales as children,” Babayan, formerly a journalist at Azatutyun and now at Kocharyan-aligned NEWS.am, wrote.

She added that the Armenian people had “made themselves look foolish.”

In response, Rubinyan wrote: “Yes, dear people, we are all illiterate. The entire nation is illiterate — only you, your Kocharyan, Sargsyan, and that Russian businessman [referring to the arrested oligarch Samvel Karapetyan] are literate. So ‘literate’ that you don’t even understand that it is wrong to insult and label an entire nation.”

“The tragic decline of Armenian journalism continues,” the deputy speaker concluded.
