Armenians illegally residing in Lachin unwilling to live in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh
Satik Asatryan, illegally residing in Azerbaijan’s Lachin district, who recently participated in the rally to block the Lachin corridor, has said that Hayk Khanumyan (self-proclaimed “Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures” of the remnants of the separatist formation in Karabakh) arrived from Khankendi and said that the city must be liberated till August 25, 2022.
“Khanumyan asked the Armenians illegally residing in Lachin where they would like to live in Karabakh region,” Asatryan said in an interview with the Armenian media.
“We asked him if he gives any guarantees that in case of resettlement, we will not be relocated from place to place. He replied that he could not give any guarantees. Maybe we will live in a new place for a couple of years, and one day we will leave it too. We said that if so, we don’t want to live in Karabakh and help move to Armenia. We were told that we can only choose Karabakh. However, we don't want to stay in Karabakh either, because we are afraid,” Asatryan noted.
She added that Russian peacekeepers will leave Lachin on August 23, and Azerbaijanis will return to the city two days later.
“We don't understand anything. We are told to go where we want, do what we want. We may stay or we may leave, they just warned us,” Asatryan said.
