Armenians rallying under "Down with the CSTO!" slogan in Yerevan
A protest under the slogans "Down with CSTO," and "Let's leave CSTO" began in Freedom Square in central Yerevan on November 23.
The protesters say Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) provides no clear assessment of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border situation, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
"We did not get security from the CSTO, but political support from Azerbaijan. At least Russia and Belarus supported Azerbaijan politically, while other countries didn't do anything special. I think we should leave the ranks of CSTO, Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC). [Russian President] Vladimir Putin and [Belarusian President] Alexander Lukashenko have no right to step on Armenian soil," Daniel Ioannisyan, founder of the NGO Union of Informed Citizens, said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council held in Yerevan on November 23. All the leaders of the CSTO member states, including Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, have arrived in Armenia.
