Arrested Armenian oligarch calls for reforms to address demographic crisis
Samvel Karapetyan, the Russian Armenian oligarch currently in pretrial detention in Armenia, has raised alarms over the country’s demographic challenges, calling them “catastrophic” and outlining urgent measures to improve the lives of young families.
In a statement shared on social media, Karapetyan, a key figure behind Armenia's "Our Way" movement, emphasised the importance of preserving "traditional Armenian families," Caliber.Az reports.
He stressed that ensuring their well-being should be a top priority for the government, particularly in terms of providing access to quality healthcare and education
According to Karapetyan, the state has“unconditional obligation” to guarantee these fundamental services for young families. He also said that his team has "considerable experience in developing and implementing solutions."
