ASELSAN modernizes Turkish military equipment
The Turkish defence corporation ASELSAN had signed an agreement with the ministry for defence industry on the modernization of armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) for the ground troops of the Turkish armed forces with a value of 900 million liras (approx. $150 million at that point).
According to Defenceturk, the modernization contract entails the upgrade and improvement of existing ACV-15 armoured vehicles.
ASELSAN is going to supply the following components to military contractors:
- Unmanned turret complex “Nefer” with 25 mm ammunition
- laser radiation warning system
- short-range surveillance system
- driver vision system
- navigation system
- instrument panels of the commander, gunner, personnel and driver will be combined
In addition, the military subcontractor FNSS will improve the following:
- Air conditioning system
- Fire extinguishing system
- Levels of armour and mine protection will be increased.
By this, the AFVs will be equipped with advanced weapons systems and high-tech equipment, and the vitality and effectiveness of the strike forces will be significantly improved on the battlefield.
According to the terms of the contract, deliveries will continue up until 2023.
