Asian Parliamentary Assembly convenes in Türkiye
The 13th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) kicked off on January 9 in Antalya under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Shentop.
According to Anadolu, parliamentary delegations from 27 countries of the world take part in the event on the theme "Promoting multilateralism in a changing international dynamic".
The discussions, along with the speaker of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova, are attended by the heads of the highest legislative bodies of East Timor, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, and Yemen. The delegations of Iraq, Palestine, Russia, and Jordan are also present at the level of vice-speakers.
On the first day of discussions, the Turkish speaker met with APA Secretary General Mohammed Reza Majidi and heads of delegations of the Assembly member countries.
The Speaker of the Parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Zorlu Tore, was invited to the session as a "guest of honour".
Adoption of a declaration is expected at the end of the January 9 session.
