ASTRA: Fire breaks out at military airfield in Russia’s Rostov-on-Don
A fire broke out overnight at a military airfield in Rostov-on-Don following a reported Ukrainian drone attack, according to the Russian-language Telegram channel ASTRA, citing OSINT analysis.
A drone threat was declared in Rostov-on-Don overnight on September 17, while local residents shared footage showing a large fire. Russian authorities have not yet provided details on the consequences of the reported attack.
ASTRA previously reported that the fire occurred on the grounds of the Rostov-on-Don Central military airfield. Its updated analysis indicates that one of the fire hotspots was located in an area used for aircraft parking.
The area identified by ASTRA is marked in red in satellite imagery accompanying the report.
According to Google satellite imagery examined by ASTRA, military aircraft and helicopters may have been stationed at the site.
