At least three separate fires have been reported at the TANECO oil refining complex in Nizhnekamsk, a city in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, an analysis by ASTRA’s OSINT team said.

The assessment is based on eyewitness footage, including videos published by the Telegram channel Supernova+. According to a source cited by ASTRA, the fires are affecting the ELU-AVT-9 crude oil primary processing unit and the ELU-AVT-8 distillation column at the refinery.

A third fire is reportedly located on the grounds of TAIF-NK JSC, another major oil refinery situated within the same industrial zone as TANECO.

Earlier, Tatarstan’s head, Rustam Minnikhanov, confirmed that industrial facilities in the region had come under attack, though he did not identify the enterprises involved.

“The enterprises that were targeted are promptly dealing with the consequences. Production processes have not been halted. All necessary services are on site,” Minnikhanov said.

TANECO, a subsidiary of Tatneft, is one of Russia’s most advanced oil refining complexes. Located in Nizhnekamsk, the facility has an installed refining capacity of 16.2 million tons of crude oil annually.

The refinery is regarded as one of the country’s most efficient, achieving a refining depth of 99.6% and producing approximately 90% light petroleum products. Its output includes AI-92, AI-95 and AI-100 gasoline, Euro-6 diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, marine fuels, base and synthetic lubricants, liquefied hydrocarbon gases, and petroleum coke.

TAIF-NK is another major refining enterprise in Nizhnekamsk and forms part of the TAIF Group. The facility processes more than 8 million tons of crude oil and gas condensate each year, producing Euro-5 standard fuels and aviation kerosene.
