ASTRA: Ukrainian drones strike Ufa, oil refinery and residential building hit PHOTO / VIDEO / UPDATED

A fire has broken out at the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Ufa, ASTRA confirmed based on eyewitness footage. The incident coincided with a drone attack in the city, which also struck a multi-storey residential building.

The Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, confirmed the fire at one of the oil refineries. He noted that several drones were shot down while approaching the refineries, with debris from one falling in the industrial zone. No casualties were reported.

The photo was taken from a distance of 11 km from the plant, from Oktyabrya Avenue. Close to Bashneft-Novoil are two other refineries — Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-UNPZ.

Bashneft-Novoil is a Ufa-based oil refinery, part of PJSC ANK Bashneft, which is controlled by PJSC NK Rosneft. The facility produces high-octane gasoline, motor and industrial oils, aviation and jet fuel, diesel, bitumen, and other petroleum products, with an annual capacity of around 7.3 million tonnes of oil.

On March 22, a fire also occurred in Ufa’s Northern industrial zone, home to multiple enterprises, following a drone threat in the city. The day before, on March 21, two drones struck a residential high-rise under construction in the “Veter” housing complex in Ufa. ASTRA concluded that these drones were likely headed for the Northern industrial zone, one of Russia’s largest petrochemical hubs.

A multi-storey residential building in Ufa caught fire following a drone attack, ASTRA reports, citing local residents.

The Head of Bashkortostan confirmed the attack on Ufa, stating that there were no casualties:

“A terrorist UAV attack on Ufa. Several drones were shot down on approach to oil refineries; debris from one fell in an industrial zone, with no casualties. A fire is currently being extinguished on the premises of the enterprise. Another drone struck a residential building on Gafuri Street. All emergency services are on site, the open fire has been contained. No one was killed or injured.”
