Attack disables Iran’s Khondab heavy water facility, report says
30 March 2026 10:43
The heavy water production plant in Khondab, Iran, was severely damaged in an attack on March 27 and is no longer operational, ISNA reports.
Analysis of satellite imagery and available information about the plant indicates that the facility does not contain the nuclear materials it had previously been reported to hold.
The facility was targeted by US and Israeli airstrikes.
The entire region has been on alert since the US and Israel launched an air offensive on Iran on February 28, which has so far killed over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
