Austrian president visits Kyiv

Austrian President Van der Bellen has arrived in Kyiv on an official visit.

“Arrived in Kyiv. After almost one year of the war, Ukraine is not forgotten. Together with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the brave people of Ukraine – we stand for European values,” Caliber.Az quotes Van der Bellen’s Twitter post as saying on February 1.

In his address, Van der Bellen noted that he will meet Zelenskyy in Kyiv.

The Austrian delegation is also expected to announce a new humanitarian aid package on February 1, which will include the generators now needed.

This is Van der Bellen's first overseas visit since being re-elected president for a second term. Usually, Austrian leaders travel to Switzerland or Brussels after being elected to office.
