Azerbaijan, Armenia could export surplus electricity, Pashinyan says
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan says Armenia and Azerbaijan could export electricity to international markets, citing surplus power capacity in both countries.
Speaking after a government meeting on January 29, Pashinyan said the excess electricity production creates an opportunity to access foreign markets through cross-border energy transit, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
According to Armenian media, he suggested the arrangement would allow Armenia to use Azerbaijan’s grid for transit, while Azerbaijan could route supplies through Armenia’s network, including deliveries to Nakhchivan.
Even if Armenian electricity exports do not materialise, Pashinyan said Armenia would still benefit financially from transit fees.
