A high-level committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) met in Astana on April 7 under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship to review ongoing initiatives and regional cooperation.
The session focused on the theme “Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalisation and Sustainable Growth in Asia,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It also highlighted Azerbaijan’s active role as chair and its efforts to promote collaboration across multiple areas.
The Azerbaijani delegation provided updates on the transformation of CICA into an international organisation and on negotiations regarding the draft charter of the structure.
The meeting also included the annual assessment of confidence-building measures in the military-political sphere, discussions on enhancing cooperation among member states in defence-related areas, and the organisation’s role as a multilateral platform for military security.
Additionally, the committee reviewed a draft action plan for the CICA Think Tanks Forum, framework documents on implementing confidence-building measures, and approved a conceptual document on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
