Azerbaijan establishes Ski Journalists Club PHOTO
The Azerbaijan Ski Journalists Club has been established through the support of the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation and the Shahdag Tourism Centre.
The main goal of establishing the club is to unite local ski journalists, promote their development as professional skiers, as well as participate in competitions among journalists annually organised in various countries by the Ski Club of International Journalists and represent Azerbaijan, according to Azertac.
The representatives of the Azerbaijan Ski Journalists Club took part in the 69th meeting organised by the International Ski Journalists Club in Almaty, Kazakhstan to expand cooperation ties in sports and represent the club in many more countries.
Some 130 participants from 23 countries attended the meeting. A member of the newly created Azerbaijan Ski Journalists Club informed the participants about the development and potential of skiing in Azerbaijan, as well as the capabilities of ski resorts.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijan Ski Journalists Club requested membership in the International Ski Journalists Club, founded in 1955 and uniting more than 1,000 journalists from 31 countries.
The participants will view Kazakhstan’s ski resort Shymbulak and compete for the first place in competitions in various ski disciplines organised by the International Ski Journalists Club. The sporting event will last until March 10.
The newly created Azerbaijan Ski Journalists Club has six members selected among employees of several Azerbaijani media outlets. Club members undergo training at the Shahdag Tourism Centre.
