Azerbaijan evacuates 500 Russian citizens from Iran
Azerbaijan has granted permission for approximately 500 Russian citizens to cross the border from Iran amid the Islamic Republic's military confrontation with Israel and the US.
Those receiving permits include representatives of organizations and companies operating in Iran. The permits are issued based on requests from the Russian side, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Around 500 permits have been issued. Representatives of Russian organisations and companies operating in Iran have already crossed the border,” the source said.
The source added that “Azerbaijan is providing maximum support to the Russian Federation regarding the evacuation of Russian citizens from Iran.”
The Russian embassy in Tehran clarified that Russian citizens can leave Iran through two border points — via Armenia and Azerbaijan.
