Azerbaijan expands powers of Health Ministry following presidential decree
The spheres of activity and tasks of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry have been expanded.
This has been outlined in the decree “On Changes to the Regulations “On the Health Ministry” signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 27, Caliber.Az reports.
The ministry should control the quality of medical services, approve tariffs for medical services that are not included in the package of services and rendered by subordinate medical institutions to the population on a paid basis, approve tariffs for medical services rendered to uninsured people, approve the procedure for rendering emergency medical care, quality standards and procedures for rendering specialised medical care, issue the permits for people studying abroad to engage in medical and pharmaceutical activity in the country, maintain a state register of people entitled to engage in the medical and pharmaceutical activity.
Moreover, according to the changes, the post of first deputy minister of health has been abolished. According to the decree, the health minister will have three deputies.
