Azerbaijan fuel supplies helped keep Armenia’s gas prices down—minister
17 September 2026 14:00
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said imports of gasoline from Azerbaijan helped prevent a sharper increase in fuel prices in Armenia amid a surge in global prices.
“Had there been no alternatives, particularly Azerbaijani gasoline, gas prices would have risen as sharply as they did on international markets,” Papoyan told journalists.
He said Armenia was among the countries where gasoline prices had increased the least compared with global markets.
“Overall, gasoline prices have risen sharply worldwide. We imported gasoline from Azerbaijan so that the price would rise by a percentage rather than several times,” Papoyan said.
According to the minister, the same applies to liquefied gas.
