Azerbaijan, Georgia discuss strengthening legal cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with Chairperson of the Georgian Bar Association Irakli Kandashvili to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the legal systems of the two countries.
The officials emphasised the strong friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries, noting that ongoing high-level dialogue provides a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in politics, economics, transport, humanitarian initiatives, and legal affairs, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Aliyev highlighted the importance of fostering international partnerships for the Prosecutor’s Office, stressing that exchanges between law enforcement agencies, bar associations, and judicial institutions are crucial for advancing legal systems in both countries. Kandashvili thanked Azerbaijani hosts for their hospitality and noted the robust relations between the legal and law enforcement bodies of the two nations.
Azerbaijan Bar Association Chairman Anar Baghirov welcomed Kandashvili’s first official visit to Azerbaijan and praised the strong ties between prosecutorial and bar institutions.
The discussions also covered reforms in legal and legislative systems and the introduction of new legal institutions. Following the meeting, the Georgian delegation was briefed on the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office and toured its History Museum.
