Azerbaijan, Kuwait discuss expanding cooperation across key sectors PHOTO
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah have discussed the opportunities for expanding cooperation in multilateral formats.
The discussions were held during the first round of political consultations on February 13, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry told Caliber.Az.
The two sides exchanged views on the current situation and prospects for the development of bilateral relations across various sectors, including political, economic, energy, agriculture, tourism, education, humanitarian affairs, and other spheres.
The discussions covered opportunities for expanding cooperation in multilateral formats, particularly within international organisations such as the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
The cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kuwait within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was also highly praised.
Kuwait and Azerbaijan have enjoyed a growing relationship based on mutual interests and shared cooperation in various sectors. The two countries first established diplomatic relations in 1992. Since then, bilateral ties have deepened in areas such as trade, energy, and political cooperation.
In recent years, both nations have sought to expand their collaboration in sectors including education, agriculture, tourism, and technology. Azerbaijan, rich in oil and gas reserves, has aligned with Kuwait's interest in energy security and economic diversification. The two countries have frequently discussed enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, particularly through joint ventures and investments. Azerbaijan also views Kuwait as an important partner in terms of attracting investment to its non-energy sectors, including infrastructure, education, and tourism.
