Azerbaijan, Kuwait explore prospects for deeper governmental collaboration
Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Kuwaiti Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held a telephone conversation on December 30 to discuss bilateral cooperation, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan reported.
The call, initiated by the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, highlighted the strong and growing relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait, built on the principles of friendship and mutual respect.
During the discussion, the leaders explored prospects for deepening ties and addressed a number of pressing issues on the agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Azerbaijan and Kuwait have steadily expanded their relations in recent years through regular high-level contacts and an established framework for cooperation, including a joint intergovernmental commission on economic ties. Engagement intensified in 2024–2025 with ministerial-level exchanges focused on broadening cooperation beyond traditional areas.
In April 2025, the two sides held the third meeting of their Joint Commission in Kuwait, adopting a roadmap for cooperation through 2027. Talks have centred on boosting trade and investment, cooperation in energy — including renewables — as well as agriculture, transport, logistics and tourism.
