Azerbaijan, Norway receive mandate to negotiate Paris Agreement at COP30

Azerbaijan participated in the 30th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), held in Belém, Brazil, with the Leaders’ Summit taking place on 6–7 November.

A delegation led by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), represented Azerbaijan at the Leaders’ Summit, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Gafarova delivered a national statement on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan and held several bilateral meetings with heads of state and government.

During the opening session of COP30, COP29 President and Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues, Mukhtar Babayev, delivered a report on the historic results of COP29, held in Baku last year, as well as on the country's activities during its presidency of the Conference. 

Babayev also took part and addressed several COP30 events in his capacity as COP29 President and held bilateral meetings with heads of other delegations.
