Azerbaijan, Pakistan seal new deal to boost plant protection cooperation
The Azerbaijani parliament has officially approved a bilateral agricultural agreement with Pakistan, strengthening cooperation in the fields of plant quarantine and plant protection.
During a plenary session, lawmakers reviewed and discussed the bill formalising the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Cooperation in the Field of Plant Quarantine and Plant Protection”, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
After thorough deliberations, the bill was put to a vote and received parliamentary approval, marking a significant step forward in agricultural collaboration between the two countries.
Earlier, on May 22, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Khazar Farhadov, to discuss boosting bilateral ties, especially in energy, and exploring new economic opportunities.
The minister expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support for Pakistan during its recent conflict with India, reaffirming the enduring fraternal ties between the two countries.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif deeply values Azerbaijan’s show of solidarity, noting that Azerbaijan has consistently backed Pakistan. He extended gratitude to all brotherly nations that stood by Pakistan during one of the most testing periods in recent times. The minister also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and investment initiatives.
