Azerbaijan, Romania reinforce strategic partnership amid UN General Assembly discussions PHOTO
On the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, has met with his Romanian counterpart, Oana-Silvia Toiu to discuss bilateral relations between the two nations.
The encounter, disclosed by Bayramov via the social media platform X, highlighted the deepening bilateral ties and mutual commitment to regional stability and development, Caliber.Az reports.
Central to the dialogue was the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Both ministers reaffirmed their dedication to advancing reconciliation efforts while simultaneously exploring avenues to enhance the strategic partnership between their nations.
The discussions focused extensively on expanding economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on energy security, transport corridors, and green energy initiatives. Bayramov and Țoiu underscored the necessity of diversifying economic ties, highlighting sectors such as education, agriculture, and tourism as vital areas for future collaboration.
A significant portion of the dialogue was devoted to the exploration of joint projects within the framework of the Middle Corridor, recognizing its strategic importance in fostering regional connectivity and sustainable development. The ministers identified green energy projects as a cornerstone for strengthening economic integration and addressing shared environmental challenges.
Addressing the complex post-conflict realities, the two officials engaged in a candid exchange on the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.
