Azerbaijan, Russia eye deeper economic integration at intergovernmental meeting PHOTO
The 23rd session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia was held in Astrakhan, marking another step in the advancement of bilateral economic relations.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, while the Russian side was led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Prior to the official plenary session, the two co-chairs engaged in a closed-door meeting to exchange views on strategic priorities and pressing issues concerning mutual cooperation.
The plenary session brought together high-level officials and authorized representatives from key government bodies of both nations. Discussions focused on assessing the current landscape of Azerbaijan-Russia economic relations and identifying new avenues for collaboration. Topics included joint initiatives in investment, industrial development, transportation, and transit infrastructure.
A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of the official protocol of the 23rd session by the deputy prime ministers, formalizing the agreements and action points discussed during the event.
Following the formal proceedings, Deputy Prime Minister Mustafayev held a separate bilateral meeting with the Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan Region, Igor Babushkin. The two officials exchanged perspectives on enhancing trade ties and regional cooperation, particularly in light of Astrakhan’s strategic geographic position along the Caspian corridor.
