A leading Colombian news website, Las2orillas, has published an article titled "Azerbaijan Donates $100,000 for the Protection of Colombian Paramos."
The publication highlights that, despite Azerbaijan's distance from Colombia, the country's solidarity and friendship know no borders and extend all the way to the peaks of the Andes, Caliber.Az reports.
The article underscores Azerbaijan's global reputation for its progressive efforts for the future of humanity.
"Azerbaijan successfully chaired the Non-Aligned Movement during the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic and also played a key role at the COP29 climate conference, when the world was grappling with the severe impacts of climate change," it says.
Roberto Trobajo, the journalist behind the piece, notes that this is the second humanitarian financial aid provided to Colombia by the Azerbaijani government in the past year. The donation is of great significance for protecting the paramo ecosystems, which are vital sources of fresh water in Colombia.
The article also draws attention to the crucial role of the paramos in preserving biodiversity and ensuring the sustainability of water resources. It mentions the importance of frailejones, which form the foundation of these ecosystems' flora, and highlights the many legends Colombians associate with them.
The article further details the official presentation of the humanitarian aid, during which Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Colombia, Mammad Talibov, visited the city of Duitama. He was deeply impressed by the rich fauna and flora of the paramos.
Ambassador Talibov emphasized the need for enhanced global efforts to protect the environment and preserve biodiversity, expressing confidence that Azerbaijani-Colombian relations will continue to thrive.
The article has also been published in several other local media outlets.
