The event was attended by representatives of the US State Department, Los Angeles County and City, Consuls General and Honorary Consuls of various foreign countries, elected officials, faith leaders, journalists, scientists, members of the Azerbaijani community, as well as leaders of Turkish, Pakistani, Jewish, Iranian, Korean, Hispanic and other communities.
The event opened with the performance of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and the US.
The Consul General of Azerbaijan and Dean of the Consular Corps in Los Angeles Nasimi Aghayev spoke about the creation and achievements of the ADR.
He noted that Azerbaijan, which regained its independence in 1991, faced enormous difficulties, but as a result of the purposeful domestic and foreign policy of Heydar Aliyev, who returned to power in 1993, our country got rid of great troubles, and solid foundations for the development of Azerbaijan were laid.
The Consul General stressed that in 2020, the Azerbaijani army, under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev, liberated our lands from occupation, restored historical justice, and today restoration and construction works are being carried out in these territories.
N.Aghayev noted that Azerbaijan is ready for peace in the region and is taking important steps for this. Speaking about the development of Azerbaijani-American relations over the past 30 years, the diplomat stressed that our countries have developed close partnership relations in many strategic areas, which are based on common values and interests.
