FM Bayramov: All countries, including Armenia, recognise Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan VIDEO
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has stated that direct negotiations between Baku and Yerevan are the most effective way to resolve the existing issues.
As reported by Caliber.Az, the Azerbaijan Foreign Minister, made these remarks in an interview with Turkish broadcaster TRT World.
Bayramov noted that bilateral dialogue yields far greater results than talks involving mediators.
The minister also emphasised that all countries of the world, including Armenia, recognise both de jure and de facto that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan.
"It means that there are no open issues with respect to Karabakh. So, if that is the case, then for us, it's a bit of a question mark why the Republic of Armenia still insists on keeping the Minsk Group. This raises some questions—whether there are plans for the future or something else—because otherwise, we cannot find any logical explanation."
Peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia
The signing of a final peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia depends on the next steps taken by the Armenian side, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said.
According to the minister, reaching an agreement on the text of the peace treaty is the result of efforts by both parties, and the signing of the document would mark the final stage of the peace process.
"So, from this perspective, everything is in the hands of the Armenian side. It is difficult for us to opine about the timing, because from time to time, we hear discussions in Armenian society and among Armenian leadership about, I don't know, their plans to adopt a new constitution. Without going into details about what might be included in this new constitution, hopefully, they know."
