SVR chief: Russia, Azerbaijan advance strategic intelligence collaboration
Russia and Azerbaijan are steadily strengthening their cooperation in the intelligence sphere, with ties described as both dynamic and mutually advantageous, according to a statement from the press bureau of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
In official talks between the leadership of Russia’s SVR and Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS), both sides emphasised that their partnership is marked by trust, shared strategic interests, and a commitment to safeguarding the national security of both nations, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Russian-Azerbaijani collaboration in the field of intelligence is developing dynamically. It is constructive, mutually beneficial, and based on mutual trust, with the shared goal of defending the national interests of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the SVR press release stated.
SVR chief Sergey Naryshkin visited Baku to attend the international conference “Afghanistan: Regional Connectivity, Security, and Development.” On the sidelines of the event, he held talks not only with Azerbaijani intelligence officials but also with heads of other regional intelligence agencies.
