Azerbaijani, Vietnamese foreign ministers discuss economic, security cooperation in Baku

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, welcomed a high-level delegation from Vietnam, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Thị Thu Hằng, on April 21.

The meeting focused on the growing bilateral relationship between the two countries, with an emphasis on expanding cooperation across various sectors, including trade, energy, and regional security, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az. 

During the meeting, both sides underscored the significance of mutual visits and the political consultation mechanism as tools for strengthening diplomatic ties. They acknowledged the wide-ranging potential for collaboration in fields such as economics, agriculture, tourism, education, and humanitarian efforts.

Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing regional stability and shared insights into the country’s post-conflict recovery efforts. He outlined the extensive reconstruction work underway in territories liberated from occupation and discussed Azerbaijan’s initiatives in tackling the lingering mine threat. Additionally, he provided an update on the ongoing normalisation process with Armenia, stressing Azerbaijan’s focus on peace and regional cooperation.

The two ministers also addressed their countries’ roles in international organisations, including the United Nations, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Following the meeting, political consultations were held between the foreign ministries of both countries, with Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov leading the discussions on Azerbaijan’s behalf, while Lê Thị Thu Hằng represented Vietnam.
