China's president advocates for opening new chapter of comprehensive cooperation with Azerbaijan
China's President Xi Jinping has said that China and Azerbaijan should open a new chapter of comprehensive cooperation.
During talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Beijing on April 23, Jinping said that despite the constantly changing international situation, China-Azerbaijan relations remain strong and stable, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“Both countries have always remained true to the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations and have adhered to the principles of mutual respect, fairness, impartiality, and mutually beneficial cooperation. Both sides should continue to strengthen political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, enhance international collaboration, and open a new chapter in comprehensive cooperation,” he said.
President Xi also highlighted the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries, and added that China and Azerbaijan have announced a comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to the Chinese leader, the signing of several cooperation documents contributes to the expansion of bilateral relations.
“I believe your visit will yield fruitful results,” he emphasised.
Speaking about the recent developments in global trade, Xi Jinping said tariff and trade wars undermine the legitimate rights and interests of all countries and damage the multilateral trading system.
“This is a blow to the global economic order,” he noted.
ON April 22, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the 14.5% tariffs he had announced on imports from China were too high, and promised to reduce them and achieve a trade agreement with China.
