Azerbaijan’s Lachin designated as CIS cultural capital for 2025

The city of Lachin in Azerbaijan has been officially designated as the CIS Cultural Capital for 2025.

This announcement was made by Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov during a briefing, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

Ushakov noted that the decision was part of the humanitarian agenda discussed at the recent CIS summit in Moscow. Alongside Lachin, other cities have also been selected for this honor: Meghri in Armenia will receive the title in 2026, followed by Molodechno in Belarus in 2027.

In 2024, Samarkand in Uzbekistan will take the spotlight as the CIS Cultural Capital.
