Azerbaijan's parliament to elect leaders of inter-parliamentary relations groups France is not on the list
On October 8, the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan will elect the leaders of its working groups on inter-parliamentary relations.
This decision is part of a resolution titled "On the Election of Leaders of Working Groups on Inter-Parliamentary Relations of Milli Majlis," which was discussed at a meeting of the Committee on International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The resolution has been included in the agenda for the upcoming parliamentary session.
In a related development, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan are set to enhance their inter-parliamentary ties. A working group focused on Azerbaijan-Afghanistan inter-parliamentary relations will be established, as outlined in the aforementioned resolution.
This initiative underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation with its partners.
However, the Azerbaijani Parliament has opted not to create a working group for inter-parliamentary relations with France.
"The issue of establishing a working group on inter-parliamentary relations with France was not included in the draft resolution recommended for today’s plenary session," noted a spokesperson from the committee.
The decision follows the suspension of the Azerbaijani Parliament's working group on relations with France, which ceased operations due to what has been described as a "destructive position" from Paris.
As Azerbaijan navigates its international relationships, the focus on creating new avenues of collaboration while reassessing existing partnerships reflects a strategic approach to foreign policy and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
