Azerbaijan’s Shusha, Indonesian city consider sister city partnership
Azerbaijan’s city of Shusha may become a sister city to a municipality in Indonesia, following discussions between officials from both countries.
The idea was raised during a meeting between Aydin Karimov, the President’s Special Representative in the Shusha district, and Berlian Helmy, the Indonesian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the meeting, Karimov briefed the ambassador on ongoing construction and restoration work in Shusha, including infrastructure renovation and population resettlement efforts. He emphasised that reconstruction projects in the country’s cultural capital are being carried out in line with Shusha’s distinctive architectural traditions and national values.
The Indonesian ambassador said that establishing a sister city link between an Indonesian city and Shusha could make a meaningful contribution to future relations between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations and ongoing efforts to strengthen friendship and develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
