Azerbaijan, Thailand explore broader cooperation in parliamentary diplomacy PHOTO
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Issara Sereewatthanawut, the deputy secretary general at the King Prajadhipok's Institute of the National Assembly of Thailand, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting focused on deepening friendly and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand, with particular emphasis on parliamentary diplomacy, collaboration between think tanks, and exchanging perspectives on regional issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
Bayramov underscored Azerbaijan’s active engagement on the global stage, highlighting the country’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, COP29, and the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP), as well as the contribution of Baku’s initiatives to advancing international cooperation.
The Foreign Minister also briefed Sereewatthanawut on major international events scheduled in Azerbaijan in 2026, including the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) summit, and the CSCAP summit, noting that these gatherings will provide platforms to foster regional and international dialogue.
Discussions further addressed the King Prajadhipok's Institute engagement with Azerbaijani think tanks and explored potential avenues for cooperation, including the organization of future consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Thailand.
The dialogue also encompassed Azerbaijan’s scholarship programs, opportunities for educational exchanges, tourism collaboration, and reciprocal high-level visits, highlighting the shared commitment to enhancing cultural, academic, and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
